Description
The Medjerda river basin is a river in North Africa flowing from northeast Algeria through Tunisia before emptying into the Gulf of Tunis and Lake of Tunis. It covers an area of 23,700 km2 and experiences a mild temperate climate with dry summers. The site is characterized by its transboundary nature and is home to two Ramsar sites and the first Ramsar City in the North African region Ghar El Melh, making it a hotspot for wetland biodiversity and water dynamics.
