The OurMED project took part in the NATMed PRIMA Project Final Conference titled “Nature-Based Solutions for Water Resilience”, held at TAK Kadıköy (Design Atelier Kadıköy) in Istanbul.
During the event, Irem Daloglu Cetinkaya presented the Nature-Based Solutions (NbS) activities developed within OurMED. As part of the flash talks session, she shared key project outcomes and lessons learned, alongside other Mediterranean initiatives working on sustainable water management.
The 3rd Living Lab in the Sebou Basin was held on February 3rd under excellent conditions and brought together 25 participants representing key stakeholders from across the Sebou basin.
This collaborative workshop provided a structured space for dialogue and collective deliberation, building on shared data and the DPSIR analysis to discuss, align and prioritise Nature-based Solutions aimed at strengthening water security and freshwater ecosystem management. The Living Lab once again highlighted the importance of science–stakeholder collaboration and collective intelligence in advancing integrated and sustainable water governance at the basin scale.
On the occasion of World Wetlands Day, OurMED highlights the Albufera demo-site (Spain), showcasing how wetlands can act as effective nature-based solutions to protect water quality, support biodiversity and strengthen climate resilience.
Wetlands are among the most valuable ecosystems worldwide. They play a key role in improving water quality, regulating water flows, supporting wildlife habitats and contributing to climate adaptation.
On 21 January 2026, the third Living Lab of the Medjerda demo site was held in Tunis, bringing together researchers, experts and local stakeholders involved in water and ecosystem governance within the OurMED project.
This workshop marked a key step in the participatory process, with a strong focus on the sharing and validation of solution scenarios co-developed with stakeholders to address the main challenges identified in the Medjerda watershed. Building on the outcomes of previous Living Lab sessions, participants collectively reviewed the proposed scenarios and discussed their relevance, feasibility and potential impacts.
The third Konya Living Lab workshop marked a key milestone in the project by sharing and collectively exploring the results generated throughout the research process. Building on the foundations laid in the previous workshops, this final session focused on translating stakeholder-defined scenarios into integrated modelling insights and supporting informed reflection on future pathways for the Konya Closed Basin.
The OurMED project has contributed to a new policy brief titled “Bridging the Gap: Funding Transdisciplinary Research for Sustainable Land and Water Management in the Euro-Mediterranean Region”. This policy brief highlights the growing importance of transdisciplinary research in addressing complex challenges such as soil degradation, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity in the Mediterranean region, identified as a major climate change hotspot.
